Jokers gonna end up as jokers. The facts speaks and rest doesn’t matter.

Telangana is the Largest Paddy Producing state in India in 2022-2023 with 1 crore 60 lakh MT paddy Production. This is as per FCI. Compare these figures with 2014 or even 2018 , Telangana was far behind Andhra and now it produces 2X as much as Andhra which is bound by natural irrigation and rich deltas, all this didn’t happen out of Aladdin’s Ginni

This is a difference between losers and winners. They are literally begging Telangana to give them rice.

Southern states approach Telangana for rice supplies

Updated - June 26, 2023 at 12:08 PM.

Paddy production in Telangana tops 26 million tonne mark; State urges Centre to procure 2 million tonnes of parboiled rice

Telangana, which has emerged as a rice granary over the last few years, is getting enquiries for rice supplies from its southern neighbours - Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

The newly-formed Congress government in Karnataka has approached the Telangana government, for supply of over 2 lakh tonnes of rice. It needs rice for the ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme promised in the recent Assembly elections.

Telangana Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy told a select group of reporters at a farmer producer organisations conclave that Karnataka’s has approached the state and “it is under Government consideration”.

Watch: How will El Niño affect rice prices?

A State government source pegged Karnataka’s monthly requirement for the scheme at two lakh tonnes.

The Tamil Nadu Government has also approached the Telangana Government, seeking supply of three lakh tonnes. It has said it is willing to partly take parboiled rice from the state.

Surge in paddy output

Paddy production in the State increased by four times to 26 million tonnes (16 mt) in 2022-23, from 6.8 mt (40 mt of rice) in 2014-15, when the State was carved out of Andhra Pradesh.

During the period, the area under paddy has increased four times to 12.1 million acres (4.9 million hectares; aggregate of the kharif and rabi seasons) from 1.4 million hectares.

JP is a Burt hurt sangho speaking off his arse without facts to back up his claim. IN fact Telangana is the only state which doubled their net growth in last decade

Telangana paddy output value at 99%, highest in India

Telangana paddy output value at 99%, highest in India

HYDERABAD: Telangana has the highest growth rate for paddy output value over a decade (2011-12 to 2021-22) in the country at 99%, as per central government report.
According to figures released by the ministry of statistics and programme implementation, the output value of paddy has increased from 8,291 crore in 2011-12 to 16,533 crore in 2021-22.

In the last 10 years, no other state has experienced this level of growth or outperformance of any other commodity. Punjab, the country's leading producer of paddy, saw only a 28% increase. During this period, the value of paddy output in Punjab increased from 17,565 crore to 22,544 crore.
According to agricultural experts, despite paddy being a water-intensive crop, the extent of paddy has increased due to large-scale irrigation projects.
"Unlike other crops where market risks are higher, more farmers preferred paddy because of timely procurement with guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP). But the extent of other crops needs to be increased," Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University's former research director, Rumandla Jagadeeshwar, stated.
Farmers said that the horticulture crop extent is declining due to lack of labour.
"In Telangana, livelihoods have improved and many are not preferring to work as labourers in fields. Whereas fruits and vegetable crops are labour-intensive crops. In some cases, workers are being roped in from other states such as Jharkhand and Bihar," said Suresh Reddy V, a vegetable farmer from Vikarabad.
To address labour issues the MNREGS scheme should be linked to agriculture, he said.
Telangana has a high agricultural production value growth rate for two other crops. The state is third in terms of cotton output value after Maharashtra and Gujarat, and second after Andhra Pradesh in terms of chilly crop.

Kaelswaram last 2 years electrity costs not even 1000 crores cross kaledu. These dumbwits don’t even understand the design of  kaleshwaram let alone power charges, half the pumps can be turned if there are good rains in upper Godavari since the ingenuity of this project is that it uses the Godavari riverbed for the most of the project as the storage. Mid manair varaku half the pumps can be turned off if it floods in SRSP like last year. The full realization of the project will kick in when there are no rains in upper Godavari, upcoming  3-4 years are going to drought in India because of El nino effect.

One more thing is that majority of the power plants in India/Telangana are coal based and one cannot store power or idle the power stations as they run continuously, use it or lose it kind situation, most of these power utilization of irrigation porojects will be in the nights when the peak demand is low.

Your statement about Telangana being behind andhra in rice production before 2014 is wrong

By 2007-08 itself Telangana crossed andhra in rice production. Karimnagar and nizamabad has more production that godavari districts back then

But Telangana was more vulnerable to drought cycles , production used to dip if drought occurs and increase if good rains occur

AP has been steadily reducing rice cultivation for almost 15 years now since it is not that profitable and state govt cannot afford to pay FCI rates.

Most of AP's rice is purchased by private mills and a lot of it is exported a lot since AP varities have longer grain and export market likes long grain rice
