Congress party & Romila Thapar changed India's history especially related to the Mughals to appease their vote bank. Some shameless people on this DB still intend to vote for the congress party despite knowing how much damage they did to India & will still continue to do it if we keep voting for them. it was there in our state social studies at that time (not sure now!) spread from 5th standard to 8th standard.  The history of India is vast and starts with Asoka in 4th standard and gradually gets further until 8th where we learn about the Muslim Conquests and then subsequently Colonialism.. most students retain memory/information from 8th to 10th and hence think our history text books had bad curriculum.

But atleast I learnt a good deal about many Indian Kingdoms, only thanks to good teachers who had the extra interest to teach extra information other than what the text books had.  My 7th class teacher, a female from Kerala was good, taught classes without looking at the text book and held quizes as well, and at that young age it helped more for memory retention of history for many of our class mates and also helped for the exams.  

Mostly northies gallaki ekkuva Muslim conquests gurinchi and Colonialism gurinchi ekkuva untadi, and hence they lack proper knowledge about the powerful southern kingdoms of the past...

issue is how much is there about indian rulers vs mughals. extensive ga vuntadi mughals everything in good light. which is not true. india rulers gurunchi there existed a kingdom called cholas ante the end.
