It's not about degree . You cannot pass tenth grade without knowing how to do basic math , basic trigonometry and alzebra .. 

But these students are coming for masters with no knowledge of  some of the very basics.. for example a mechanical student doesn't know what are basic laws of thermodynamics is !!!
