Man shot during attempted robbery of Amazon vehicle in San Francisco

A man was shot during an attempted robbery of an Amazon vehicle on Saturday evening, Amazon confirmed to KRON4.

At around 6:11 p.m., officers responded to the report of a shooting at the intersection of Mariposa Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, the San Francisco Police Department said. Officers located a man suffering from gunshot-related injuries, SFPD said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation into the incident discovered that an attempted robbery had taken place, police said. No arrests have been made and the suspect fled the scene.

“We’re working closely with law enforcement as they investigate this crime and are focused on supporting our team during this difficult time,” Amazon said in a statement to KRON4.

Marc Benioff, chief executive officer of Salesforce, the city’s largest employer and anchor tenant in its tallest skyscraper, said downtown is “never going back to the way it was” when it comes to workers commuting in each day. He advised Breed to convert office space into housing and hire more police to give visitors a sense of safety.

 

“We need to rebalance downtown,” Benioff said.
