nearly all of them. they are startups. why would they move out of sf and waste time traveling to and from work?

Lol, no one is actually going to San Francisco for work anymore.

yeah, that's the idea of all these silly articles. but san francisco is still creating more startups than the rest of the bay area. No one is gonna startup in palo alto, and only boring uncles who settled with a single family home start in san jose or santa clara.

City ki commute chesa vallu evaraina telusa neeku? I knew atleast 20 people commuting to the city on Caltrain pre-pandemic. None of them go to work anymore. I personally know 4 people who used to live in the city who moved to South Bay after the pandemic. Caltrain lo nuncho daniki kuda place undedi kaadu, now half the trains are gone during rush hour, and there are plenty of seats available.

still san francisco is creating startups at record pace. why don't these companies just operate out of Palo Alto or San Jose or Mountain View?

🤔

because sf still has the best startup ecosystem. doesn't matter if employees don't want to travel to work. They still get paid out of dollars that sf office attracts.

sf city will always keep attracting new people.

old people who are jaded and out of ideas can go elsewhere and live a comfortable boring life. Like how Elon Musk fcuked off to Texas.

bs. this is what fascists claim to justify their disinterest in actually solving the problem. They are only worried about the value of the home that they overpaid for.

There's not enough shelters even for homeless in the bay area. forget about public housing.

the problem is easy to solve. Just build a lot of public housing. but people are crying about stephen curry's nimby attitude, while being extremely nimby themselves.

innovation happens everywhere ley. sf just knows how to monetize it. anthe.

why they don't highlight it is because they want sf to stop being very vibrant, and become a boring place like san jose etc. with lots of uncles who've settled with their homes and can now focus on raising kids without fear of being outcompeted.

sf punched above its weight for too long, that this kind of backlash for progress is normal. It is just couched in terms of things like cleanliness, drugs and other silly sh1t that conservative loser uncles immediately identify with and respond to.

@Telugodura456 pls come and claim Hyd is cleaner than sf. and people are more kind and respectful and full of culture that they learnt thanks to telugu language. lmao.

and even has THub, which will be the next silly valley :giggle:

unfortunately cultures that stagnate can innovate, but won't have enough cultural cache to transmit that innovation throughout their society and enrich that innovation. eg. japan with its rigid hierarchical culture (like India and AP/TG) that used to be a leader in electronics is reduced to being a mere customer for Microsoft in software now.

China will also end up the same. India too. SF like regions are rare in the world. perhaps nothing else exists. Even if its inhabitants are insufferable, you have the hope that you can outflank them and drive them out of sf with tears if you successfully use its culture to propagate your sh1t. hehe..

No other region in the world offers that.
