Not really. Atleast not for me nor my friends. We all look forward for that and most people with favorable schedule make it and enjoy

yeah my sister who came to India last year spent 80% of her time meeting her friends from school and college, and unfortunately rekindling my memories of people I want to forget, by talking about how this guy and that guy from her class was doing.

but I love my sister, so I excuse her infringing of my personal space that way. Though I constantly remind her to say that I abandoned everybody and disappeared if they ask about me. haha..  fortunately no one asked it seems.

You are correct about people not being same but the basic traits remain. Is'nt it fun to learn more about a friend and their journey to how they are doing now?

If you stay in touch with them regularly (like talk 2-3 times a year), their personalities wont shock you.

A few years back I went back to the school (after 10+yrs) where i finished my 10th. I wished our telugu teacher and told her who I was. She remembered the name (coz we were 1st class to graduate 10th from that school) and after i talked to her for 10 mins she recognized and said i know who you are. She said she remembered based on my traits, way of talking, mannerisms, etc.

Unfortunately I have very clear and specific memories of childhood. The teacher I remember is the person who recommended I read the The Fountain Head at 15. I'll never excuse her for the brain damage she did to me. :)

I think its not possible to know about a person, just the face they want to show you.

There is something deep in this. Its true. I think even we don't know who we are completely. How we react to certain situations (which may or may not have happened) determines who we are.

Given a hypothetical situation, we may say I will react in this way. But when that same situation happens, we may act in a completely diff manner. In fact google, Meta, Apple may predict accurately who we are based on our browsing history.

you can easily test yourself to understand about you. but you have no option other than to take people at face value or ignore them. You can't request them to please open themselves to you.

I believe in actions that words. I listen to what people say but make an opinion based on their actions.

but that opinion based on actions will also not be a helpful predictor of their future actions, or about him as a person.

for eg. this db collected donation of some 2-3lakhs to give to someone in anantapur or sometihng. what does it say about those who donated?

nothing (and I'm being charitable here given the drama that followed). even trying to understand what it does say is pointless. Unless you regularly need to interact and have enough instances of interactions with a person from where you can make a reasonable prediction of their action in a particular mode.

No one can predict future. Not even machines. Even if it predicts correct, its by chance. Same machine will not predict every future action.

Same thing with humans. We cannot predict their future behavior. That's why most people who are close to you behave in a predictable way as you know them. When they don't, it causes distress or shocks them or breaks them.

When you are out of touch with someone and they behave unpredictable manner, it wont surprise much as you are out of touch. We think they changed.

unfortunately we don't have endless computing power, and social memory cache of machines.

which makes us be extremely choosy. and we must train ourselves to choose well. operating at a greater efficiency than the machines would on these predictor algos.

Nee opikaki mechukovali bhayya.

You will have a good career as a reporter if you ever decide to go that way ... way better than Arnab Goswamy.

Now, don't say I am giving you free advice. Its a compliment.
