farmers (including huge corporates) are subsidized everywhere.

any kind of export ban is idiotic. Unless govt comes up with a white paper on how exporting rice is like exporting water out of the country, and tax rice consumption and guide farmers to cultivate alternate crops.

so you think rice export ban means India gets to have higher rice stocks?? do you know there's something called 'the market' that wills a product into existence only based on its demand? sometimes it doesn't work well, but for most commodities it works fabulously well.

'world will buy hell lot of wheat and drain India of food resources' - yeah, it can happen. cars can fly too in the future. we'll get there when there's evidence that it is happening. If such hoarding happens at a global scale, India access to rice and wheat won't be the only thing you have to worry about.

you can forget your comfortable period of hyper prosperity in the US too. you'll lose access to a lot of things and will live under an govt run ration program for your daily goods.
