DP general secretary Nara Lokesh is believed to have decided to move from the Mangalagiri Assembly constituency for the 2024 general election.

He lost this seat to the YSR Congress in the 2019 general election and had been working there with the goal of winning it in the next election.

However, it is said that he made the decision to move from Mangalagiri after realizing that victory is not possible for him there.

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had given house sites to 50,000 families in Amaravati, which is part of the Mangalagiri Assembly constituency.

The majority of these new families will be part of the Mangalagiri Assembly constituency, while a significant number will go to the Tadikonda reserved constituency.

Members of these families will be included in the voters' list of these two constituencies, and they are coming from the NTR and Guntur districts.

Though the farmers of 24 villages of Amaravati, which are part of the Tadikonda constituency, are protesting against Jagan Mohan Reddy, the addition of over 25,000 voters from these 50,000 families will go to this reserved constituency.

About 40,000 to 45,000 new voters will be added to the Mangalagiri Assembly constituency. This is a significant number, and Lokesh will not get a single vote from these voters.

This realization led Lokesh to focus on the Addanki Assembly constituency in Prakasam district, which is currently held by TDP's Gottipati Ravi Kumar.

The constituency has a considerable number of Kamma voters, on which Lokesh is relying, and he has also received some requests from the constituency during his recent padayatra in the segment.
