I think you need to read the comment again... I didn't mention it was good and became pedestrian nightmare... and also didn't compare with any other city...

Your observation: Hyd is not a pedestrian friendly city.

My observation: Hyd was never a pedestrian friendly city and only city in India which is pedestrian friendly are the ones which were planned. Naa observation reality Ki tagattu vundi..

why so defensive?

you can simply agree with what he says. although he's wrong about being delhi being pedestrian friendly. Delhi is even worse than Hyderabad for pedestrians and two wheelers because of its wide roads, and a large part of jobs being available centrally within a 4km walk for most who can't afford to even pay for the bus.

I don't understand middle class guys who want respect above everything else, even a casual conversation.

I said New Delhi, not Delhi. If any city which is more pedestrian friendly then that’s New Delhi. Each side has almost 5-8 feet of paved pedestrian way and in areas along the power corridor sometimes it’s even 10 feet. Opika vunte Google street view lo chudu…not whole of New Delhi but major parts.

pedestrian friendly means roads should be narrowed and speed limits enforced for cars. wide roads are not pedestrian friendly if the cars are allowed to zoom past.

hyd was never pedestrian friendly?

did you grow up in Hyd without playing cricket on the streets?

ofcourse no city is now pedestrian friendly in India. meaning large parts of the city inaccessible not just for walkers but also cyclists, designed purely for cars.

specifically at sultan bazar….

zebra crossing are just for show…

Old city is left with no space for any kind of expansion and even new city built 20 years ago made no provisions for pedestrian friendly roads but latter they made it is a haphazard manner where some areas are good and some bad. Greenfield developments like Kokapet is being built with provision for underground cables, pedestrian lanes, bike lanes etc

do you see a single bus in that video?

it looks like some vacation destination. Not a lively city.

May be few decades back when there were very few vehicles in the road, yeah it was pedestrian friendly, means people had space on the road to walk.

Road expansions chesthu chesthu there is hardly any space in the city to build a pedestrian pathway. Busy corridors Lo they are building skywalks..

I agree that no city qualifies as pedestrian friendly now in India.

road expansions to cater to cars kills any hope for pedestrians or to build a lively city. It then becomes a race on which direction is best to expand on, and land speculators come into question further eroding any concept of public infrastructure in cities, other than to serve the rich.
