Awareness anedi okka roju lo raadu…15 years back Hyderabad la beer kotti bindaas ga bandi nadupukuntu poyetodini and most people don’t do that thing anymore. It took while to come here but we are here.

Most other stuff kuda anthe especially civic sense and community sense…it gets better by each passing day.

Absolutely agree. People wont change unless their hand is forced or something drastic happens. It will take time, but the city started taking measures to regulate these via Fines.

It will take time. Hyd is not the same city it was 10 yrs ago. Hope to see hyd as a world class city soon whatever or whenever it happens.

I’m trying to recollect when was the last time Hyd’s roads were pedestrian friendly…..or for that matter of fact, which Indian city is pedestrian friendly except New Delhi ?

Hyd roads were super pedestrian friendly during CBN rule.... Your ego can't handle this fact but that's the truth

I was talking about the measures traffic department or DMV is taking to change people's behavior which in turn will result in better road safety.

if you want to change people's behaviour easier to ban street parking and lay hefty fine for that.. stop building flyovers and further widen roads. If possible build walking paths or gardens in the middle of the roads so the roads can be narrowed and walking encouraged.

none of these are going to happen. People want to move in cars.. uber/rapido is just another way of outsourced travel options from the luxurious enclaves such people live outside of the city.

its much easier if people are forced to pay higher property taxes the farther they build from the city. Its even fair given the cost involved in providing them the basic infrastructure.

what is world class? Hyd is already world class in the minds of a lot of people here.

hint: 99% US cities are not world class. They are an urban nightmare impossible to access without a car.

oh you mean in the 90s, when there were not many cars around to kill kids playing on the street?

the fact that cbn started to build his hitech city outside of old hyd is proof that he's the original culprit that started urban decay of Hyd.

I am not as knowledgeable as you with regards to City Planning. May be suggest them to govt.

I am more practical and realistic. Govt won't do anything that causes too much discomfort for people for the fear of losing votes. I keep realistic expectations and happy with the progress the city is making.

that's why I said Hyd will never be a world class city. neither will any other city in India.

Kolkata is probably the closest to a world class city India has. fantastic public transport and lots of public space.

The flyovers and underpass near LB Nagar cross roads prevented so many traffic jams. In 2022 Summer it used to take 1 hr to cross LB Nagar X road. Now no traffic lights or jams. Underpass and overpass. However they could do well with the quality of roads.

I went on a bike with my wife and both times they checked us both. I did not understand the logic as well. We were not drunk so we did not question. May be over enthusiasm.

I am well aware you feed on these discussions. I have made my points very clear on this subject. I have nothing more to add.

yeah, now the traffic choke point is shifted to some other location. Its just a game of cat and mouse. which is why people keep moving out of the city to get away from the traffic.

I would agree that Hyd roads were the best I remember in Hyd during CBN rule.

You should visit hyd to understand. They have changed the traffic system in hyd. Reduced or removed traffic lights and introduced U Turns instead of traffic signals. With Overpass and Underpass in many locations they have removed a lot of choke points.
