Why now ante, India is now the world’s second largest market for electronics and we haven’t had a chance to build laptops in India. Multiple times it was initiated but never really worked. From what I see, they have opened the opportunity at one end and closed the leak at the other. PLI scheme kinda last one year nundi nadustune vunnayi ie attempts. The manufacturers don’t want to set up shop in India because it’s so cheap to get one done in China and sell in India. This is what Indian govt want to change.

Laptop build cheyadam pedda Brahma vidya emi ledu…all these are linked to semi conductor industry..

designed components are anyway imported from Taiwan. There's not a single home grown ODM in India. I doubt there's one in China too, btw.

none of these matters. Electronics manufacturing has grown by leaps and bounds now, with companies making custom chips. Indian govt absolutely sucks at giving a boost to its industry. resorting to things like import ban that should've been done 20yrs ago.
