The restriction is for new laptops only right ? why would anyone buys laptop from here anyway ? we wont get helpdesk support if something goes wrong, I had this bad experience few yrs back with dell, they said US dell no support in india dell division. Its not a good idea I think. But for office laptop on visit basis, why anyone restricts them - its on return basis when we travel back to US

hahaha dell gives international warranty......

Personal accessory/gadgets carrying ki importing ki difference undhi bhayyoo.

importing quantities like in 10s or 100s either in carry-in or checked-in luggage or getting it shipped thru international cargo comes under importing.

Before ban, we can import laptops in any quantity by paying the appropriate customs import duty. Ippudu ban ante we can’t import even by paying customs duty, means not allowed to bring in from outside of the country either for personal use(in bulk) or for selling, even if the importer is ready to pay custom duty.

if the item/product is “prohibited” then you are not supposed to carry at all, like US inward travelling luggage lo gasagasalu/kaskas.

as long as we take back then i see no issues..they should put on passport carrying personal laptop and while return they shud check.

Yeh, they have this option to put the laptop details on passport and just need to validate if the person is carrying it back or not.

These people who are enforcing the rule may not have an idea or confusing ppl as they have no clarity on what's a new laptop/used one. May be not everyone is aware of this rule to put an entry in passport.
