Jagan defers Vizag shifting plan to Dasara?

It appears YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has deferred his plans to shift his chief minister’s office and residence from Tadepalli to Visakhapatnam one more time.

In March, Jagan indicated at the Global Investors’ Summit held at Visakhapatnam that the city was going to become the executive capital of the state and he, himself, would be moving – lock, stock and barrel – very soon.

Though Jagan did not mention any specific date, the YSRCP leaders then said the chief minister might move to Visakhapatnam in July, coinciding with the commencement of the academic year.

But it did not happen and subsequently, YSRCP in-charge of north Andhra and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman Y V Subba Reddy declared that Jagan would be shifting to Visakhapatnam in September, after clearing the legal hurdles.

Not only the CMO, but Subba Reddy announced recently that even the state secretariat would be moved to Visakhapantam by September.

He said there were several buildings available in the port city, besides other private buildings on the Bhimili Road, which would be used as administrative buildings.

“The exercise is going to begin shortly and there is no question of any compromise on shifting the administration from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam by September,” Subba Reddy said.

Accordingly, it was speculated that Jagan might move to the port city in the first week of September which falls in the auspicious month of Sravanam, which is good for any new ventures and house warmings.

Now, state industries minister Gudivada Amarnath, who hails from Anakapalle, said Jagan would take a sensational decision by Dasara.

“The shifting of capital, which is the long-cherished dream of the people of Visakhapatnam and north-Andhra would be done by Dasara festival,” Amarnath said.

He said there are going to be important changes in the state administration by Dasara, which would please all the party leaders and cadre and also the people.

“Everything will be cleared by Dasara,” he said.
