San Francisco Is a Homeless Mecca

California has spent more than $20 billion on housing for the homeless since 2020, yet public encampments continue to grow.

Many homeless prefer to live on the streets where they can freely use drugs.

“People are coming here for so many different reasons including the ease of access to getting these drugs,” Ms. Breed recently noted.

San Francisco’s homeless epidemic is a result in large part of the familiar problems of drug addiction and mental illness. But a particular problem is the refusal to prosecute drug crimes.

where would you go if you're a homeless American. CA is the answer or you'll die in any other state from the elements. It's not a city/state issue but a nationwide problem. At least they're trying to do something unlike some red states which forcefully migrate them to such cities

By SFO a lot of people assume, desis live there. Its not the case. most desis live in suburbs which are expensive and wont see homeless people.

The only reason some people would go to SFO city is for job. But with remote, even that is gone.

ahhh..thanks for correcting. learnt something today

I always used SFO to refer to city but probably it refers to SF airport. May be the habit from booking air travel tickets.
