Coming back to usa you can get gold evaluation estimation certificate and declare them at customs … customs will give receipt and its valid for 4 yrs and one return …

so keep receipts handy if asked...

@ANChaSKI

Its not easy to keep receipts all the time. So we scanned the receipts for all Jewellery we have and uploaded to google drive, in case anyone asks.

thank you all.

So, we have some jewelry items.  Hope we can take them back with a picture taken here that they are not new...and follow above suggested ideas to be on safe side.  thanks again🙏

Once pics are taken. Share it with your wife on whatsapp, so that date is noted as well. Will make it easy at customs.

When traveling to India with personal jewelry, you should be cool as long as you keep it low-key. Avoid flashing bling everywhere to avoid drawing unwanted attention. As for questions, nah, you shouldn't have any issues. Just be honest if they ask, but they usually don't care unless it's super pricey stuff. When heading back to the US, it's the same deal - keep it subtle, and you'll be good to go. And hey, speaking of jewelry, I recently found these necklaces with pictures inside 'em. Pretty dope way to keep special memories close, you know? Check them out at https://necklacewithpictureinside.com/ if you're curious.

I dont think these ppl are caught due to show off. Some of them have packed jewelry in their checked in luggage and when customs asked questions, they denied or lied. Never lie to customs or IRA :D
