Depends on how you conveyed it. Instead of emailing HR, you could have told this to hiring manager during salary talks that HR mentioned this salary. Your response should have been "I am flexible on salary but HR mentioned salary XYZ". This way you have kept doors open for job, clarified on the discrepancy and did not appear desperate for a job. If you do not like salary, you can always leave the job. But always keep control in your hand.

He offered only 10% hike to current pay. I said the same. He said I will get $10k joining bonus. At that moment I could not agree. I did not say I am flexible. I did not know salary negotiations are also critical.

Job hunts can be a rollercoaster of emotions, right? I had a similar experience once. I interviewed for a gig and during negotiations, there was a mix-up between what the HR mentioned and what the hiring manager offered. It left me feeling uncertain, just like you. In the end, I reached out again, but no response for days. I was on edge, wondering if I missed out. But guess what? Things worked out. They eventually got back to me, and we sorted it all out. And hey, have you checked out hipeople.io? It's a neat platform where you can connect with others who might've been through similar situations.
