It has more to do with age and problems. I have a regular group of around 10 ppl who meet regularly. We used to talk only abt figures in office and personal experiences, etc. But last 3-4 yrs its only abt health issues and how ppl are dying young. A couple of ppl in group (40 yrs) got severe health problems (multiple heart attacks) and its all changed now. Even if we meet without them we all talk abt health,etc.

So our thinking/priorities change with age and what's going on around us.
