Before TDP came and during older  jaffa rule - life used to be like this. BCs were completely crushed. SC/ST had nominal representation because of constitutional reservation.

This was true. TDP reforms initially were good. But again that's because of NTR. In a way TDP is an anti feudal party unlike Congress which was feudal to the core in the name of weaker sections. Most of the land lords joined Congress immediately after independence, to keep their land ownership. But with time the integrity in TDP eroded, so much to the extent of indulging in every trick just to stay in power and pooling resources primarily through real estate.

Jagan realized that there is no other way except to accommodate SCs and BCs in power structure, or else he can't come to power.  That's why he allotted tickets to more BCs in the last election and it worked.
