My best friend in College is a kerelite. My best friends in office are kerelite's. No one can beat them in drinking. A funny story with a friend in office. He is a legend. 

He came to office Monday one day and said had beer last night. Same with Tuesday. Wed and thu his eyes were red. When enquired, he said he had wine. On friday, he came late and we all said "Last night DARU is the reason". To our shock he said, No man -> I did not have any DARU this week. We all looked at each other and said you said you had beer on Mon/Tue and Wine on Wed/Thu. 

His Iconic reply "Beer & Wine DARU thodi hota hein".

Read sometime back that Hyd & telangana in general consume Most Beer in the country and Kerela consumes most hard liquor in the country. Not sure how it resonates with the map shared here.

Tbh, who really knows. How many people will actually tell how much they really drink. People just guess who drinks more based on past stereotypes. 

I suppose liquor revenue and industry power is one way to check liquor consumption. Karnataka has extremely strong liquor lobby. Same with Kerala and Tamil Nadu to a lesser extent.

Govt should have these figures. How much liquor sold and the % of beer/hard liquor etc. Even every wine shop probably has these based on which they put their orders. Also with Distributors and the liquor companies themselves.

I guess where liquor industry is strong (legal or illegal), you can guess the amount of drinkers in a state. 

Most rag to rich folks I know have came up thru liquor trade.
