I hate Slack

How one can use this in a professional environment?

1. messages on channels is like spamming everyone who is not related to the issue, but managers love that visibilty.

2. Messages in threads are very hard to read, one new message in thread is hidden unless you set notifications on and then go to thread.

3.It's too childish, can't put links or images or documents easily.

4. integration with sharepoint, for docs repo.

5. Calls, group calls are too hard to manage. IN the name of simplicity they took out useful features.

6. Logging into slack is two step process.. first web then open locally.

The biggest benefit of slack is it retains history, even if you add team members to the group one can browse through the entire message history which is favorable for troubleshooting and sales chats etc.

secondly it has bots/plugins for other tools like Salesforce where you can act in message without logging into another application for example Salesforce etc, say you have to approve something or respond to a ticket etc, simply respond in slack it will take care of it updating  in apps like service now, fresh service and Salesforce against respective tickets etc.

Lastly slack is a standalone application, it is easy to onboard external users like clients/partners, consultants and contractors , they don’t need an employee profile unlike teams

teams can retain history , but it's very bad at accessing months old chats.

integration with Salesforce is one selective feature, only useful to salesforce folks.

If new members are added I doubt if they can see the history.

secondly Salesforce is just one example they have bots for 100s of applications or your can write your own bot because they provide dev tools for that

About #1, visibility is a must, especially in current hybrid/remote work situations.

Better embrace it and see how to become more visible if you want to grow as FTE.
