funny people.

Higher Per capita figures do not necessarily mean better Standard of Living for its citizens.

For example, USA per capita GDP is much higher than UK, Norway, Switzerland and whole EU.

But a significant proportion of USA population is still living under fly overs and foot paths.

The percentage of homeless is negligible if not 0 in many EU countries and Switzerland.

But having said that, USA has many things in which it excels like military spending, weapons, killing machines, multi-flavored condoms, strip-clubs, casinos etc..

How convenient. Comparing EU with India.

He didn't compare EU vs India.

When someone says - A is higher than/Lower than B. That is called comparison between A and B. In his example look where he usesd "higher than" then you will know what he is comparing with what..

lmao. given how both India and Bangladesh are more than 10times poorer than Europe/US, not sure the comparison applies.

He could've picked a better example like Ethiopia vs Kenya or something like that.

anyway mine was a pithy comment posted in jest. There's no need to put it into comparative analysis. I'm just reiterating the common observation that Bangladesh that was half of India's per capita by 2012, overtook India in a decade, and for some reason Indians are proud of achievements of India during the period this happened.

People look at whatever makes them happy and shows their country in a better position… India will never do good in comparison with the per capita as the population is too high..

actually both are misleading.. PPP is a better metric to look at as the same dollar has different purchase power in different countries..

Bangladesh is doing much better than India in economic growth. 11% growth is phenomenal, that too consistently over years.

Let's say two neighbors used to earn 10 rs per day per family member. Now both started doing better and one started earning 12 rs/family member and another guy 14 rs/family member.

The guy making 12 rs should feel happy that he is making 2 rs more or sad that he is making less than neighbor? It's a choice you make.

If first family has 10 members, second family has 2 members,  first family income increased from 100 to 120 and second family income increased from 20 to 28. Should first family feel unhappy?

Indians worship state as an idol - it can do no wrong even when assasinating - No party in india has even said the assasination was maybe a miscalulcation if not downright wrong. No concept of justice, - sheer idolatory of the worst kind.

population is high in china and reasonaly high in usa - their per capita incomes a re doing very well.

PPP actually works better for countries like china. But i dont agree with PPP in india it vastly overestimates the economy.
