Differences between TDP and DMK.

They are both regional parties of their respective South Indian state. But eventually devolved into family-centered parties. Both were created to stand up against arrogant Hindi-speaking Delhi Congress. Both have strong control of media like Sun TV and Eenadu.

DMK is older of the two. It was a Tamil-centric cadre party with some semblance of democratic functioning under Annadurai. Soon as Karuna took over, it became family party. Now his son Stalin runs the party with full grip after spat with his brother. However, the district secretaries are very powerful in their own regions and help the party get votes. They hold enough funds, henchmen, and influence to resist rivals even when out of power. Cadres are still supported by the party if needed. They do not rely solely on 1 or 2 castes to dominate leadership. 

TDP was started by NTR. He was inspired by MGR creating ADMK to counter DMK family party. So NTR wanted a Telugu-centric party to counter Congress family party. They had strong cadre at his time. As soon as NTR was overthrown by Chandrababu Naidu, party cadre weakened. Rule became way more centralized and second rung leaders became use-and-throw scraps. Now he is getting old and finding it hard to fight Jagan by himself. Lokesh needs second rung leaders or regional satraps who could help him counter Jagan ragging. Unfortunately Nandamuri fan clubs or Kamma Sangam or TANA heads cannot give enough help.

I have trouble describing their second rung leadership and cadre strength for YCP and TRS.

TDP la a copy version of DMK/AIADMK. Original ki fake Ki vunantha teda vundi…not a comparable quantity.

I wonder if CBN was out of the picture, who would succeed NTR in ruling TDP?
