Forgot to add, if you are into architecture and seeing old homes, a visit to uptown/Garden District/Audubon and lakewood is a must. Some beautiful homes. Especially during Christmas, the lighting in front of the homes and homes themselves are super beautiful.

Lake walk/River walk if you like water. I guess there are some boat rides on the river as well. 

Stay in super historic hotel like monteleone or some such hotel.

If you enjoy food, there are some great restaurants. Try Gumbolaya/Turtle soup etc etc are supposedly good. Not sure if any of the old restaurants are still around. If you are a veggie, good luck.

Try alligator poboy if you don’t have food reservations, one of the best sandwiches 

Overall, food is killer there
