Why is it surprising? Even in UPSC exams, lot of candidates who get top marks in written get very low marks in Interviews. Writing prelims and mains is not the same as clearing interviews. Adedo pedda ghoram annatu raase batch ki UPSC/APPSC interviews and evaluation criterion gurinchi zero knowledge anukunta.

A lot of UPSC toppers had a less than optimal Interview score. Here is a list of toppers in UPSC and their interview marks.

https://byjusexamprep.com/upsc-exam/upsc-interview-marks

Anudeep Durishetty who was a topper had the least interview marks. Adhi teloyakunda adedo pedda scam anna range lo posts veyyadam endho..

Meeku UPSC process meeda fair idea vunnatundi. Did anyone who attend for interview got 10% and 88% marks?

UPSC marks varies between 40 to 80% total. In the above said APPSC exam topper got 13.5% marks, someone else got 88%? That's the concern.

Or please check post RTI, APPSC marks trend. You don't find similar disparity. If you have not noticed, this is about 2003 Group 1 exam

Well, is that a trend or is that a random event. UPSC was an example on how the variance could be. UPSC has a minimum 40% bar, APPSC might not have. While I don't have readymade data on the variance, i have seen the candidates score a zero on the interviews as well in other PSCs. If it wasn't a random event, this would have already gone to the judicial review knowing how these exams are scrutinized. Written exam has no bearing on the interviews. I remember reading an expose on The Print a few years ago where they tried to pin the caste of the candidate to their interview scores. With all the insinuation, they had to finally admit there is no prima facie evidence to prove that claim.

Ok Bro, nothing is proven in this case also except allegations. It is not a trend, random few instances.

Judicial review - that's a good joke. Even when there is abundance of evidence, nothing gets proved in court. This data became public only after few years due to RTI.

If someone cleared written test and scored zero in interview, that means either it is not the same candidate who took written test or corruption in interview. It is highly unlikely scenario, given you can get to the interview level only after extream filtering.

I have not seen/heard someone scoring zero in PSC interview. If you have data to support your claim, please share.

During Kiran Kumar Reddy tenure he got rid of whole interview process. Even now interview marks are reduced to 75.

I remember reading it long time ago while attending coaching for some competitive exam. One of the teachers who used to train us on public speaking and interviews had shared this titbit with the scoring sheet during one of the sessions. This was roughly 23 years ago. I did try googling for the information. I did find a few in the 10-20 range but nothing for Zero. But, I distinctly remember being shown the marksheets with a zero in the interviews.

Regarding corruption, that is not new. Something similar happened in Kerala police exams a few years ago, if I remember. The toppers were not able to answer even a single question from the paper they topped in. This was reported in the news papers for a few days with claims of Pinarayi Vijayan interfering in the process. As usual, no ties were established in the end.

Nope. I never tried. It was more of the other competitive exams. That training did help me in the corporate sector.
