I don’t think they were big rivals under same party. 

Nehru goru was dominant force of Bejawada. Ranga batch had to settle for scraps. But Nehru died so now neither are strong as before.

Ranga wife Ratna joined TDP in 98. 

Ranga koduku Radha jumping from Congress to PRP to YCP to Jana Sena to TDP.

Nehru jumped to Congress in 1999 but came back to TDP in 2014. 

Nehru koduku Avinash went from TDP to YCP without winning seat.

My childhood, whenever I visited VJY there was always political tension and the reason was rivalry between these families. Vadde sobanadriswara rao murder, after that murder of Murali (Shiva movie scene) and a lot of other murders with each family pitting against other. I agree the rivalry is not there any more and I think one of the ACP (forgot name) was critical in changing rowdy culture there. 

My dad told stories about the gundaism and how they used Goli-Soda as weapons during fights. I am happy that VJW is so peaceful now.

Even after Ranga hatya and Christmas riots, Bejawada still had politically connected gang murders. There was rumours that Bejawada rowdies were hired to cause chaos in Hyderabad riots. Most recent high profile case was Chalasani Pandu murder. He was Nehru anucharudu.

Its way better nowadays.

I haven’t followed news in recent times but some family were involved in these. Almost 20+ yrs court chakkars and finally case kottesaru.
