You are right, there was a moment when someone wearing tilak is seen as comical to others

Hindus gave away one way secularism to other religions at the expense of their own religion being mocked. it is now under check

Derogatory ga choopincharu Ani anale ga but he looked like he was a parody of jaggi vasudev, aa gaddam, aa dance on stage etc.
