I dint research on term insurance.

why not pay extra at company? I am paying around $40-50 per month for additional 4x salary. Thats like $500 per year. Imo totally worth it

If it's in addition to your term insurance, then agree. Go ahead.

But if it's the only coverage, you have - you are taking risk ... Coverage becomes expensive each year and you may not even get it later.

Say at 50, you change jobs or out of Job and want coverage...

Guys I am on H1B and I applied term insurance with several carriers and at the end they say I am not eligible. I am guessing the reason might be because of answering status question. I am in mid 30's and in good health but still I get rejection.

Any suggestions please? Do we need to be GC or Citizen to get this? If anyone on H1B got it, please let me know the carrier name.

Avoid gofundme by getting term protection. Sad that people pay $100/month for car insurance but not for their life.

For all people with kids, dependents and liabilities, get a term insurance.

Things to look for, as cheapest is not always the best,

  • carrier rating/comdex score
  • max. living benefits
  • good conversion option to perm

My recommendations in this order (based on low cost and features/benefits)

  • AIG qol flex term
  • North American term
  • NLG/LSW

You dont own the insurance benefit from your full time job,

  • no living benefits
  • it is not sufficient/enough coverage
  • no more coverage when retired-early, start a business, go contracting etc. Insurance will be very costly (even not eligible in some cases) if they develop medical issues.

Get it when you dont need it because you will not be able to when you need it.

Avoid gofundme…?

Even if they do have insurance, why would anyone say no to free money? Minimum half a million free money right?

It comes down to needs vs greed at that time. And we dont have that info in the gofundme page. Unfortunately, we cannot stop bad actors everywhere.

everyone will have bro.. this is extra money which they get very soon..  insurance  goes thru claims process so it will take time.

Sample rates: assumed NJ, 37 male, non-tobacco, 1M coverage

for 30yrs term,

  • Preferred Plus Non-Tobacco- $75/month
  • Preferred Non-Tobacco- $90/month
  • Standard Plus Non-Tobacco- $116/month

for 35yrs term,

  • Preferred Plus Non-Tobacco- $94/month
  • Preferred Non-Tobacco- $112/month
  • Standard Plus Non-Tobacco- $147/month

Problem is paying 75$ per month.

Wish they take money for entire year at once.

Try AIg direct.: it would be $100/month for 30 years for 1M coverage

Just make sure it is AIG QoL Flex term and not AIG Select term. They are different term products from AIG-Corebridge
