Can Bhuvaneshwari Odarpu Yatra fetch any mileage?

With the chances of Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu coming out of Rajahmundry central jail in the skill development scam turning bleak, his wife Nara Bhuvaneshwari has decided to embark on a state-wide tour.

But what she is planning to do is not the rejuvenation of the TDP cadre, but a sort of “Odarpu Yatra,” on the lines of what Jagan had done between 2009 and 2011 to call on the families of those who had died of grief or committed suicide following the death of his father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy in a helicopter crash.

Bhuvaneshwari is doing more or less the same.

During her programme – “Nijam Gelavali” (truth shall triumph), she wants to call on the families of people who reportedly died after hearing about the arrest of her husband.

Bhuvaneswari's tour plan is being formulated to ensure that she covers at least two to three places a week. She will console the bereaved families, who lost their closed ones following Naidu’s arrest.

But one wonders whether this “Odarpu Yatra” of Bhuvaneshwari will fetch any mileage to the party. Unlike Jagan who was already an MP, she is a political novice.

Secondly, Jagan used to imitate his father both in his style and diction, but Bhuvaneshwari is no good speaker.

Though she is the daughter of legendary actor and former chief minister N T Rama Rao, the present generation people do not know much about senior NTR as much as they know about Jr NTR. Only the middle-aged and old people might acknowledge her as the daughter of NTR.

So, Bhuvaneshwari has to go into the people taking the name of her jailed husband Chandrababu Naidu and explain to the people how the Jagan government is harassing her husband.

“In a way, it is going to be an attempt to gain sympathy for her husband, rather than fetching any political mileage for the party as a whole,” an analyst said.

But after having seen the response from the people to her programmes like ‘Nyanaki Sankellu’, ‘Kanthitho Kranthi’ and ‘Motha Mogiddam,” one wonders whether she will draw any crowds to her meetings.

“At least Lokesh should have taken up an aggressive public outreach campaign, instead of roping in his mother. It is definitely a poor strategy,” the analyst added.

CBN might have renovated it but if he did it honestly without taking bribes, there would have been absolutely NO issues with mosquitoes, hot interiors, A/C, skin issues, etc. for him now.
