Family sues Panera Bread after college student who drank Charged Lemonade dies

An Ivy League student with a heart condition died after she drank Panera Bread’s Charged Lemonade, a large cup of which contains more caffeine than cans of Red Bull and Monster energy drinks combined, according to a lawsuit

Katz bought a Charged Lemonade from a Panera Bread restaurant in Philadelphia on Sept. 10, 2022, according to the suit. She went into cardiac arrest hours later, said her roommate and close friend, Victoria Rose Conroy.

“She was very, very vigilant about what she needed to do to keep herself safe,” Conroy said. “I guarantee if Sarah had known how much caffeine this was, she never would have touched it with a 10-foot pole.”

The Charged Lemonade was “offered side-by-side with all of Panera’s non-caffeinated and/or less caffeinated drinks” and was advertised as a “plant-based and clean” beverage that contained as much caffeine as the restaurant’s dark roast coffee, according to photos of both the menu and beverage dispensers in the store, which were included in the wrongful death lawsuit.

So why did she buy without knowing what the drink contains anta, how is it the restaurant’s fault?

Food business need to follow certain standards. Ingredients antha declare cheyyali. Chestara? Prati okkadaki pukkatlo money kavali, responsibility matram teesukoru.

US is not a Socialist country where you need to mention everything .. it is individual's responsibility to check before you eat or drink. It was labelled already. If you have a condition then you are supposed to declare it prior to order .. like does it contain Allergens or any substance which is potentially harmful to you. If she has condition then she should have announced it..

it is already labelled. Most of the people who works in Auto Industry and now IT industry used to Caffeine for their daily routine.. If you do not look into the label properly it is not their problem..

anna it’s not like Panera bread tried to hide the caffeine content. Antha pedda words tho raasi undhi ga caffeine content entha undo drink lo , coming to why this particular lemonade has so much caffeine, they clearly state it on the label, tappu aamedhi not the restaurant.
