Anta Assamey
Erstwhile Tollywood comedian-cum-politician Babu Mohan is upset with the Bharatiya Janata Party, as the party has not given any indications of giving him ticket in the November 30 assembly elections in Telangana. Babu Mohan, who had represented Andhole assembly constituency in Medak district in the past, has been kept on tenterhooks by the party for quite some time. What is worse, there have been leaks to the media from the BJP that his son might be given the party ticket. An upset Babu Mohan told reporters on Saturday that he doesn’t want to contest the elections at all, if this is the situation. “Why should the party drag the name of my son and create rift between me and my son? Why was my name not included in the first list?” he asked. He announced that he would keep away from not only the contest but also the campaign. “Depending on how the party responds, I will decide whether I should continue in the party or not,” he said. The comedian alleged that no senior BJP leader in the party was responding to his telephone calls. “Neither Kishan Reddy nor Bandi Sanjay took my calls. How can they humiliate me like that? If I am forced to resign, I shall explain how the party leaders are humiliating me,” he said. There is a talk that Babu Mohan might join the Congress party, though he won’t have the chance of contesting the elections this time.
