Dbians with little kids what do you have

HSA is cheaper compared to PPO. If you go very less to doctors or emergency (in case of kids) HSA is better. If you have some known health issues, do not take a risk and go with PPO.

Calculate overall money you spent in HSA vs PPO and see how much you spent in emergency. Add it to your HSA expense and see the difference. You will get the clarity.

For e.g. My previous HSA was $0/paycheck where as PPO was $150/Paycheck. An emergency visit would cost around $500-$750. Even if I had 2-3 emergency visits and difference in copay costs, HSA was still cheaper. But 1 big issue your out of pocket will be a lot. But there is a $4000 per person limit as well there. So wost case you pay a little more.

In your case its not much difference deductible wise .. what are you paying for medical insurance per pay check for each ?

HSA is cheaper for you. You are paying an additional $200 per month for PPO. Total $2400 per year. So you are paying an additional $1150 for HSA as deductible.

My experience with HSA has been decent. Never had big problems. However if you need speciality care, its better to go with PPO so that you can choose who you want to be treated by.

Problem with PPO is getting appointments. Its not easy to get quicker appointments with specialists. They take time.
