Got laid off from my current company in chicago, been working more than a decade as a .NET lead here, so they offered 2 options

  • Take the severance of 20 weeks and leave (end date end of Dec)
  • Accept the transfer/relocate to Massachussetts with similar pay and similar job (same company, so no need for new H1B)

Biggest problem  H1B thoney, current job market ela undho theleedhu naaku, not in touch with anyone for personal reasons.

I140 approved undhi, single earner in the family with a 2 year kid

Dilemma entantey,

  • Risk theesokuni next 60days lo job kottaagalana?
    • 12+ year exp undhi but as dec is holiday/dull period, resume select ayyi, interviews attend ayyi, short list chesi, offer ichi H1 start chesentha time untadha, evaraina experience chesaara?
    • Malli consultancy ki velli irrukkupoyi, vallatho blood suck cheyyinchukovalani ledhu, vere option lekuntey thappa
  • Leka safety chusukuni, anni mukusukuni transfer option ki ok cheppi MA vellipovaalaa ani
    • basically chicago lo life alavaatu paddaka MA chuttupakkala chusthuntey nachatam ledhu. cost of living is high, houses are very poor (paath chekka illule ani), 2k ki chicago lo vachey rental house 3k pettina MA lo raavtledhu. Paiga its not a remote job, onsite ravalata.
    • Howz life in MA for an indian family? is 150-180k suffiecient for single family?

please konchem time ketayinchi, em chesthey better ani meeku anipisthundho, me suggestions isthey, it helps me a lot to come to a decision.
Thanks in advance.

I would pick option 1.. Since 5 months pay vastundhi neeku, so Ippudu Marketing Start chesina you might find job in next few months.. few month out of job unna you are still getting paid kadha

Inni years oka city ki alvaatu padi, No point of moving now..

Also MA nacchaledhu anappudu no point of going and Suffering..

.NET ki Chicago lo jobs baane untaai, just explore/train Azure a bit and add it to Resume and Start Marketing asap.. Koncham pay takkuvaina teesuko for now and change later.

Also .. you can explore C2C jobs too kno.. not all consultancies are blood suckers.. Explore some tella vendors like Ranstad, EY etc

Linkedin, Dice, Indeed etc etc..

Current market lo skilled developer ki job vastundi but salary is below market level.

If I were you, I will accept your current transfer option and search and apply for jobs immediately and see how your resume picking and interviews are going.

Prolong transfer until Jan month, Continue job search, if you get new job with good package, then all good, say bye to current employer take severance and jump. Otherwise transfer to new location with old company.
